Intent to Enroll

I’m Dawna Halama, Ms. Halama to students, and it is my pleasure to serve the Hawking STEAM Charter community as your Special Education and Student Services Coordinator.

 

I come to you with 24 years of education experience, 14 wonderful years as a classroom teacher in grades 2-6 and then ten exciting years as a charter school leader. I am a reading specialist with a Master of Arts in Reading from SDSU and in 2008 I became a National Board Certified Teacher. When I first stepped out of the classroom and into school leadership I assumed the role of Instructional Leader then became the Associate Director of Instruction. I earned my Administrative Services Credential in 2015. I am passionate about equitable teaching and learning, and my remarkable journey as an educator has shaped my core beliefs that I’d like to share with you.

 

I believe that

if each and every school leader serves his or her community by promoting a safe, equitable, and learning-centered school culture;

and each and every teacher fosters an inclusive, responsive, and rigorous learning environment;

then each and every child will thrive socially, emotionally, and intellectually, fulfill his or her potential and be well-prepared for the dynamic future.

 

It is my honor and a great privilege to serve this wonderfully vibrant community of learners as we strive to fulfill our vision to Think, Create, Innovate, and Discover!
