Quincy Gutierrez

Visual Arts Teacher

My name is Quincy Gutierrez and I am so excited to be creating the new Visual Arts program and to be joining the Hawking team! I graduated from San Diego State University with my Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design. I then completed my credential program at Cal State San Marcos earning my Multiple Subject Credential as well as a Single Subject Credential in Art and English. I was raised by an artist and an educator and have had a passion for teaching and creating art my entire life. It is my pleasure to enhance your child’s learning in all subjects through the arts!

I am a contemporary educator whose unique outlook provides creative and innovative strategies and ideas in the classroom. My educational background in Graphic Design provides me with endless opportunity to both create new and utilize existing technological learning tools. I truly believe that art is the great equalizer providing a low floor and a high ceiling for students of all academic ranges. I believe that all students should have equitable access to curriculum and will go the extra mile to both challenge and inspire. A mutual respect between students and myself ensures that they are receptive and feel safe in the classroom to express their ideas and emotions. This fosters a work environment that sets my students up for success!

"A good teacher can inspire hope, ignite the imagination, and instill a love of learning." - Brad Henry

Visual Arts is a key component of our STEAM program. Hawking 2 is committed to an increasingly sophisticated arts training program starting as young as TK that prepares our students for opportunities and careers in the 21st century creative economy.

The visual art curriculum is designed to ensure students meet the California State Content Standards in visual art through studio and art history courses.
