Physical Education

Physical education is viewed as an academic subject and students at Hawking 2 receive physical education every day. Our physical education program provides students with a planned, sequential, K-12 standards-based program of curricula and instruction designed to develop motor skills, knowledge and behaviors for active living, physical fitness, sportsmanship, self-efficacy and emotional intelligence. During physical education, students practice the knowledge and skills they learn through physical activity, which is defined as any bodily movement that results in energy expenditure. Students also engage in exercise

(any physical activity that is planned, structured and repetitive

for the purpose of improving or maintaining one or more components of fitness).

A wide variety of assessments are used in our physical education program and include summative assessments and other forms such as checklists, rating scales and rubrics that link directly to the intent of the student outcome. Student progress across grade levels are monitored and assessed using assessment data, demonstrating that students are meeting standards and outcomes.

Hello Rockets !!!

My name is Coach V. and I am delighted to be back with guys again this year !

I have a Bachelors of Science (BS) Degree in Kinesiology from C.S.U. Fullerton, a Single Subject Teaching Credential from the University of Redlands, and I am working towards a Masters degree in "Coaching & Athletic Administration".

I will be entering my 8th year of teaching PE this year. Some of my prior assignments included; Strength & Conditioning Coach, High School Head Football Coach & Head Track and Field Coach. During my 13 Seasons of Coaching I saw many of my former Students receive Athletic Scholarships and have coached 2 former players that are now professional Football players in the NFL.

I was raised in Guadalajara (Mexico) until the age of 10 when my family moved to the USA so that my siblings and I could pursue careers. I have a little family of four, my Wife daughter and baby boy live in Mission Valley. We enjoy going to the beach, hiking, and camping as much as we can in the summers.
